Everything about VoIP
The most common questions about our telephony – and how a migration project works.
Why we use IAX trunks
IAX (Inter-Asterisk eXchange) was developed specifically for Asterisk and offers several tangible advantages over classic SIP:
- A single UDP port (4569) for signalling and voice – this makes IAX easy to pass through firewalls and behind NAT, without the typical SIP/NAT issues.
- Greater security thanks to the alternative VoIP protocol: the option of full encryption as well as RSA signing for incoming call traffic – and, being NAT-free, no complicated firewall requirements.
- Trunking: multiple simultaneous calls are bundled into shared packets – noticeably reducing overhead and bandwidth.
- Robust and easy to configure – ideal for cleanly linking multiple sites and systems together.
We use IAX precisely where these advantages matter – for example between our systems and your sites – and SIP where maximum compatibility with providers and end devices is required. This gives you the best of both worlds.
Why our DIALOG system is sustainable
Our DIALOG phone system is based on proven open-source components – above all Asterisk. That makes it sustainable:
- No vendor lock-in: no expensive proprietary manufacturer licences and no dependence on a single supplier.
- Long service life: further development via software update instead of hardware replacement – saving electronic waste and investment.
- Resource-efficient: runs virtualised in our data centre or on standard hardware, without power-hungry specialised appliances.
- Adaptable and extensible: the features grow with your requirements.
- No licence or monthly feature costs: you pay us no licence fees or monthly charges for using all of the features – across unlimited trunk lines and extensions.
- Scalable: from very small systems on a Raspberry Pi to redundant server clusters serving large call centres, hotels or corporations – from a handful to thousands of extensions.
Why you save money with our VoIP accounts
- No ISDN line rental – and no base charges for our VoIP accounts either; plus lower call rates for outgoing calls.
- You only pay for outgoing calls.
- Incoming fax as a PDF by email is included free of charge.
- Unlimited incoming and outgoing trunk lines – dependent only on the bandwidth of your internet connection, which we can also provide on request (our internet lines).
- Basic features included: emergency forwarding as well as an answering machine (with and without message storage) when unavailable, after ringing a set number of times or when busy. International calls and premium-rate numbers can also be blocked.
- One account can be used from anywhere: office, home office and on the move with the same number.
- Hosted system in our data centre: no hardware of your own, no maintenance costs, no update effort.
- Multiple sites can be connected internally free of charge.
Which modern telephony features our system supports

We use proven SIP phones from leading manufacturers:
Number porting
You can transfer (port) your existing phone number to us – you remain the holder of the number.
Alternatively, you can choose a new number free of charge from one of our number ranges:

How a migration project works
From the first analysis to live operation, we guide you in a planned way and without downtime:
Current-state analysis
Record the existing setup, lines, numbers and requirements.
Concept & quote
Define the target architecture, trunk choice (IAX/SIP), feature scope and fixed costs.
Provisioning
Set up the DIALOG system, order trunks, prepare end devices.
Number porting
Submit the porting request and fix the switchover date.
Configuration & test
Configure the system, carry out test calls, run in parallel with the old system.
Cut-over
Switchover on the porting date – clean and without downtime.
Training & handover
Staff briefing and complete documentation.
Operation & support
Monitoring, maintenance and ongoing support from our team.
